Ashley + JR + Winston

Ashley and JR were married by ordained dudeist priest and good friend Rick under blue skies at Star Hill Ranch.

Everything about this wedding was hand-made by the bride and groom in classic vintage style. Their beloved dog, Winston served as ring bearer extraordinaire. We also shot some of the wedding on classic Super 8 film which is being processed at the lab in Los Angeles and should be ready next week.

Carmela of In style weddings and destinations put everything together beautifully.

We also had the pleasure to work with photographer Diana Lott for the first time, she just got some pictures up and all I can say is WOW! check them out here after taking a look at the trailer!

Spring has sprung

There are lots of beautiful places to get married in and around Austin, and the Wild Onion Ranch is one of my new favorites. Kelley and Heath were married on a beautiful spring day, when the blue bonnets were appearing in great numbers. When I arrived to scout locations for the ranch the day before the wedding, a full grown longhorn sauntered up to my car and preceded to lick my window!

During the reception, I got a call from my wife to let me know her water had broke, I finished filming the events of the evening and rushed home. Our daughter, Willa Cayton Nickle was born the next day! Needless to say I will always remember Kelley and Heath's wedding.

Saying goodbye to 2009 December 23, 2009

As we say goodbye to 2009 and welcome 2010 a bit of reflection is in order. Like everyone, we had our share of both challenges and triumphs this year, and we look forward to a brand new adventure as the calendar rolls forward toward the end of the decade.

We had a wonderful time producing wedding films in 2009, and we truly feel privileged to have been part of so many wonderful celebrations. So many wonderful couples allowed us to share in their most joyous of days, and we were thrilled to meet so many wonderful people and be part of their lives.

We are thrilled that the wedding films we produced for those lovely couples represent lasting memories and the start of a beautiful new adventure in their lives. We would like to thank each and every person we worked with throughout the year for their business, their warmth and their hospitality. We can assure you we had a wonderful time producing those wedding memories, and we hope you can relive those special moments in the coming year.

On a more personal note my wife and I are expecting our first child this May – talk about a new adventure! To say I am excited at becoming a Dad is an understatement. My lovely wife and I are not planning to determine the sex of the baby – we are looking forward to the surprise.

The Year Ahead
As the new year dawns we are looking forward to the many exciting challenges that await us – both personally and professionally. We are planning big changes to our studio, and we look forward to welcoming old friends and new to be a part of these exciting developments.

Next month I will be attending the InFocus convention, and I am looking forward to seeing many old friends and making many new ones as I meet filmmakers from around the world. You can check out the convention at infocusvideoevent.com.

In April I will be traveling to the NAB conference in Las Vegas, and I am really looking forward to my first trip to that city in quite some time!

John and Jamie October 17, 2009

John and Jamie were married at Umlauf sculpture gardens in Austin. I think this had to be one of the most beautiful locations we have had the pleasure of filming this year. We could not have asked for a better couple to work with. Jamie and John were awesome!

Summer Vacation is here! July 15th, 2009

We have not been shooting any weddings for the past couple of weeks because my wife and I decided to take a road trip to the east coast. We started by driving to see some friends in New Orleans, one of my favorite cities.

If you have ever been to Bourbon Street, you know how crazy it can be. My favorite place to have a tasty adult beverage is hands down Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop. Over the past couple of years this place has gotten a bit more touristy than I would like, but it's still the coolest place around. It was built around 1772 and at night it is lit only by candles and there is usually a piano player.

From NOLA we headed to Virginia to stay with another friend. One of our favorite parts on this leg of the trip was visiting Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson. This place has been kept pristine from the time it was built, everything from the kitchens to the vast gardens which my wife absolutely loved, being the worlds best organic gardener. If you are ever in the area and get a chance, I can't recommend this place enough.

The last leg of our trip we decided to do some camping, seeing as how it has been in the triple digits in Texas for several months, we didn't really relish the idea of camping at home. The first place we went was Shenandoah National Park in Northern Virginia. On the way to our campground we saw three bears! Being the adventurous type that she is my wife chose the deepest, darkest campsite we could find where nobody could hear us scream should a bear decide to have us for dinner.

From there we decided to head to Cosby Campground in the Great Smoky Mountains. This place was beautiful, it reminded me of the woods you see up in the northwest in places like Oregon.

From there we went back to New Orleans and then on to Austin to finish up our trip. In all we drove over 4000 miles. I can't wait for our next road trip!

Jordan and Shelby June 20th, 2009

Jordan and Shelby were so much fun to work with, we started the day in a luxury suite in downtown San Antonio for the Bride and Bridesmaids preparations, while the guys took over the hotel pool. The reception took place at the Pearl Stables, once part of the Pearl brewery. It turned out to be quite a party, I haven't seen that much dancing all year!

Jessy and Scott May 1st, 2009

Jessy and Scott were married in historic St Mary's Catholic Church in downtown Fredericksburg, TX and then had their reception at the beautiful Nimitz Museum. All I can say is.. It was a historic night!
